Kaetsu Tearoom with Chen Xi, 2015.
The aim was to produce a clean looking book with lots of white space, influenced by spending time in the calm and uncluttered environment of the Japanese tea room. The page layouts are minimalist and repetitive, in response to the structured, hushed and hypnotic atmosphere found at the tea ceremony. Each spread combines a sketch from life with quotations selected from ancient texts and poems by my collaborator Chen Xi.
